Commercial insurer NIG has extended its First Future Leaders talent and training scheme into 2013,marking it for a second year after its introduction in 2012.

Launched in January 2012,the 10-month First Future Leaders programme aims to help NIG's First broker partners to identify and develop the next generation of commercial insurance brokers in the UK.

Focusing on leadership and management, the programme is based on training modules and works in sync with the insurer's in-house talent development.

According to a study conducted by the firm,66%of brokers had cited a need for succession planning, while over 70%mentioned organic growth as the objective for their business in the next three years,as reported by Postonline.co.uk.

NIG First, marketing and propositions director Jessica Heagren said,"We are always striving for ways to improve our service and help the industry.I'm especially proud that we are also supporting more female brokers,a move which correlates with an increasing number of female hires NIG has made itself over the past 12 months."
